Social distancing is an important part of stopping the spread of COVID-19 and the SDA has called on supermarkets to introduce customer limits in stores as part of our 10 point health and safety plan.
From Monday, Coles and Woolworths will be implementing customer limits in stores.
This is an important measure to help protect you at work as well as for customers. This is in addition to several other measures being put in place to help stop the spread.
The SDA welcomes this announcement to introduce customer limits as we continue to ensure that your health and safety at work remains a priority.
You can read more about the measures we are asking all retailers to put in place at www.national.sda.com.au/coronavirus.
Remember, with any new changes in store there is no excuse for customers to behave abusively and violently towards you.
Recently Coles and Woolworths have also increased security in stores to help manage any customers who do the wrong thing.
If you experience abuse and violence from a customer report it to your supervisor and if you do not feel comfortable handling the situation, ask your supervisor or manager to help you.
If you have any questions, please call the SDA.
