The SDA is running an Australia-wide Class Action against ALDI on behalf of all ALDI supermarket and distribution centre workers.

We’re alleging that ALDI directed workers to work without PAY before and after their rostered shifts for up to 30 minutes.

We estimate that over 20,000 workers are owed $150 million in backpay and we’re seeking proper compensation for impacted workers.

Eligibility:
The SDA Class Action seeks compensation for over 20,000 current and former ALDI workers. All ALDI workers who have worked there during the following periods may be eligible for compensation:

  • Supermarket workers employed between October 2017 – 20 March 2023
  • DC workers employed between end of October 2017 – 31 October 2022

We’re alleging in the Federal Court that ALDI systemically underpaid over 20,000 supermarket and distribution centre workers an estimated $150 million in wages by:

  • Instructing all workers to do work duties without pay before their rostered shift
  • Instructing salaried store managers and store assistants to do work duties without pay after their rostered shift

No. The SDA is obliged to keep your information confidential once registered for the class action. You do not have to tell your employer that you have registered with us and you can’t be disciplined for doing so.

While all workers at ALDI will be covered by the class action, being a member of your union is the best protection against underpayments and unfair treatment at work.

ALDI workers across the country are getting organised and joining their union to make their workplaces stronger, safer and happier so make sure to join the SDA today here.

You do not have to pay legal fees to be part of the Class Action.

The SDA’s intention in bringing this Class Action is to recover for ALDI workers 100% of any underpayments which the Court may find are due to them.

It is important to understand that in a class action the Court must approve all aspects of any settlement or resolution including whether any legal costs (and if so, how much in legal costs) should be paid by the Representative Applicants and group members.
