Your safety at Coles: SDA meets with Department of Health

The SDA has been working hard to ensure that your health and safety is a priority during this time.

We have called on all retailers to adopt the SDA’s 10-point safety plan (here) that would help to protect you at work.

The SDA has had concerns, based on feedback from members in stores that the measures currently in place in Coles have not been adequate.

We are looking for:

  • Staff to be provided with a hand sanitiser endorsed by the Health Dept as effective against COVID-19.
  • Floor marking for customers to keep at a safe distance should be implemented
  • Every second self-serve register should be closed to ensure shoppers and workers can adhere to Dept of Health social distancing requirements
  • The company to regulate the number of customers in stores.

That’s why we approached the Federal Attorney General’s Office and the Department of Health to raise our concerns to help make sure more was done on safety.

The SDA is working hard and pressing for additional health and safety measures in Coles.

The SDA will continue to keep you updated throughout this period.
