Important Information for Harris Scarfe Members

‎Monday, ‎6 ‎January ‎2020

Today it has been announced that Harris Scarfe will be closing 21 stores, which will be communicated to affected stores today.

This will impact 160 permanent staff and approximately 280 casual staff.

This will occur over a 4 week closure plan with a program for staff to look for opportunities to be retained in the network where possible.

All impacted staff will be paid all entitlements and redundancy upon the closure of the stores.

Redundancy payments will depend on your conditions of employment and length of employment so it’s important to check what you are entitled to if this applies to you.

Remember, the SDA is here to help you every step of the way. We know this is a difficult period for all Harris Scarfe employees.

If you are affected by a store closure, contact us to talk about your rights or for advice and support.

It is our priority to ensure you receive all entitlements owed to you and for you to be provided with important accurate information about your employment.

SDA National Secretary Gerard Dwyer continues to be on the Committee of Investigation to represent the interests of SDA members throughout this process and to hold the Company to account about how this administration came about.

The SDA is disappointed to learn of reports today that Harris Scarfe has been placed into voluntary administration.

The SDA has immediately contacted the Company to request further information about what this means for you.

We understand that trading will continue as normal over the Christmas period as the Company works through the sale of the business.

The SDA will be working to ensure you are fully represented and know your rights throughout any changes that may occur as a result of this.

It is always our priority to ensure SDA members receive all their pay and entitlements and are treated with respect at work.

While there are no immediate changes to your work, we understand that this period may be difficult for some employees and create uncertainty. The SDA is here to help and support you throughout this period.

We will continue to keep you updated as more information comes to hand.

Please call your local SDA Branch.
