Safety Demands Action Week 2021

Every year, the SDA holds Safety Demands Action Week to highlight how important your safety at work is.

Since the pandemic begun, there has been an increase in customers using click and collect which means more SDA members are having to work in car parks.

If you’ve ever been abused by customer while delivering a click and collect order, had to work in a dark car park at night or have put up with unreasonable workload to get the orders done – we want to know about it.

Your safety at work extends to the car park and there must be proper processes and training in place to minimise any risks to your safety.

SDA members have reported a range of problems when working in online, click and collect, and working in car parks including:

  • poor car park and traffic management design
  • bad lighting
  • dangerous surfaces
  • inadequate maintenance
  • working in isolation
  • customer abuse and violence
  • manual handling
  • workload

We need you to tell us more about this so we can help ensure your safety at work.
